Last month Abu was injured again, he, so we had an open wound she we had to dart him in order to stitch it. We kept him away from his group for about 10 days, but now he is again with the girls, and everything looks fine by now....(cross fingers!). The new event for Africa is her association process with the family group: She has some new friends: Romie and Toto, well, in fact there are not very close friends, but I they are tolerating short distances...They've been together already, yes, the 3 in the same room, eating some seeds on the floor and looking like a Christmas post-card:mother, dad and the little girl . Africa is still scared of chimps but she is very curious at the same time, she seems very focussed on the chimpanzees reactions and on their face expressions. We also tried sessions with Sara, Victor, Nico and Tico but just between bars, and it appears that they don't pay too much attention to her or they hide their intentions. We cannot predict when Africa will be integrated into a group, but it can take quite a long time … Enrichment of the week: scattered cooked spaghetti all over the outside enclosures and Sara and Nico were the first running to get them doing vocalizations of happiness!
