Tico and Julio Desperately Need a Permanent Home
On the 8th of July we rescued two males chimpanzees Tico and Julio 20 and 28 years respectively from “el Parc de les Aus” (“The Park of the Birds”) in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona). Spanish authorities had contacted us desparetly trying to find someone who would take them in. The only alternative for them both was euthanasia. We simply couldn’t let that happen so we have agreed to take them in for a few months until Spanish authorities can find another sanctuary to house them permanently. The problem is there is no other sanctuary with the appropriate facilities to take them within the next few months. We have already began to get to know Tico and Julio personalities; they are both very gentle and calm chimps and they would probably integrate very well into our current bachelor group. However, Olga Feliu, the director of MONA, said: “It would fantastic if they could have them stay with us indefinetly, but, unfortunately, MONA relies completeley on donations and we currently don’t have the funds to take care of two more chimpanzees”.
Please help us today so that we can make sure Tico and Nico have a home for the rest of their lives.
